NC Health workers receive portion of their payment─── 15:20 Fri, 10 Dec 2021
The presiding officer of the South African Liberated Public Sector Workers Union (Salipswu), Thapelo Thole, says community healthcare workers in the Northern Cape received only a portion of their agreed payment.
Thole says in accordance with minimum wage regulations, workers received only R817,45 on Monday.
The union says no indication was given by the Health Department as to when they would pay the outstanding money.
The Department's Lulu Mxekezo, meanwhile, argued that the outstanding money would be paid along with the December salary run.
Mxekezo says the adjustment of standard compensation to community health workers took effect from March this year, and the department strives to improve the conditions of community health workers.
