Affected towns include Rosendal, Bohlokong, and Paul Roux.

"The municipal water supply system is under pressure due to a pump breakdown at Soulspoort dam wall," the municipal spokesperson, Tshidiso Maitse, confirmed to OFM News.

He says this has resulted in the treatment works operating at less than half of their capacity.

The reservoir levels are critically low and residents residing in the high-lying areas will be affected by the water supply. "Residents are advised to save water as the system is unable to," he adds.

He further says the municipality is urging the community not to use sprinklers, hose pipes, or fill up swimming pools.

It is unclear how long the water supply will be affected.

He concludes by apologising for any inconvenience caused.
