Police officer charged with domestic violence─── 09:11 Wed, 22 Dec 2021
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is investigating a case of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH).
It is alleged that a 41-year old police captain - stationed at Welkom SAPS auto garage – was engaged in a heated argument with her husband on Monday (December 20) at about 15:30 after arriving home from work.
It is alleged that she then seriously physically assaulted him.
The suspect has since been detained at the Virginia police station, and will appear in the Welkom Magistrate’s Court today (December 22).
Meanwhile, investigations into the matter are ongoing.
