The outages follows after a substation, providing electricity to the areas of SW1 and SE1, was vandalized by unknown individuals.

In a short statement, the municipality says if everything goes according to plan, normal supply will be restored, failing which interim measures will remain in place.

The municipality further elaborated that a replacement part of the affected substation, has already been secured.

It also urged consumers to use electricity sparingly, in an effort to minimize prolonged outages.

Many communities in the Vaal triangle have spent the festive season with water and power supply interruptions.
