A transformer failure at the Tahiti Substation between Parys and Sasolburg in the Free State, has resulted in the loss of electricity supply.

According to a statement supplied by Eskom, areas affected by the failure include the Tahiti-Fontein 11kV line, affecting 71 customers, and Tahiti Repeater-Woodlands 11kV line, affecting 92 customers.

Eskom Free State spokesperson, Titi Makhetha, says Eskom technicians have assessed the situation and are sourcing required material to replace the failed transformer.

Makhetha says provisional indications are that the supply will be restored to all customers on January 10th, 2022.

Eskom has thus apologised for the inconvenience while they work towards restoring the electricity supply.
