ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to deliver the statement address on Saturday in Polokwane.

"We should remember that in terms of the SONA and the January 8 statement, we've got a framework," he said.

"Issues that the president will ventilate will be issues like the local governance, support to the economy, COVID-19. But don't forget the January 8 statement comes just days after the release of the Zondo report," he said.

"I will be surprised if he does not again focus on the 2020 July unrest which had a huge impact on the ANC and eroded investor confidence in the country."
