According to the department’s spokesperson, Hillary Mophethe, this appeal comes after the department learned about scamming activities involving requests for payments to female contractors in particular, in order to obtain appointment letters for tenders that were advertised by the department towards the end of 2021.

Contractors are therefore advised not to pay anyone in order to obtain an appointment letter for a project. 

Mophethe strongly stated this is a scam to rob people of their money and it is in no way an official activity by the department.
