Potholes filled for the New Year─── TSHEHLA KOTELI 15:44 Tue, 11 Jan 2022
One of the biggest problems residents of Bloemfontein have is the pothole situation.
The New Year has seen the potholes in George Lubbe Street filled with sand, bricks, and stones for drivers to use the road freely. According to an individual who works for a business in the street, who has declined to be named, the potholes are already bad enough, now it's worse that they have filled them with bricks as a solution. She added that she believes the bricks can also do damage to one’s car as the sharp bricks can cause a flat tyre or they can easily scratch the bottom of the car.
She further explains the street has been damaged by the heavy rain and the sewage.
Unfortunately, it has become an issue to drive to work because the street is filled with large potholes, sized between 1 and 2 meters and about 40cm deep. “The potholes also gives our clients problems when they have meetings at our offices. We get clients coming in throughout the day, some even complain about the conditions of our roads and some have even taken a decision to not come here anymore because of the potholes,” she added.
