Matlosana residents unhappy with road patching─── 12:02 Mon, 17 Jan 2022
Residents of Matlosana in North West have had mixed reactions to a road maintenance programme initiated by the local municipality.
The municipality, through their department of infrastructure, has embarked on road maintenance projects launched by mayor James Tsolela last December.
Spokesperson Ntswaki Makhetha says the project is committed to rolling out quality services to residents, with a main focus on re-sealing roads, patching potholes, overlaying, and paving intersections.
However, updates of the work on social media have been met with negative responses.
One residents said roads in Klerksdorp need resurfacing, adding that patching is an unnecessary waste of taxpayer money.
Another said patching potholes is a temporary fix, and as such a wasteful expenditure.
Some feel the municipality should get skilled people to deal with potholes on the N12.
Makhetha says the programme is ongoing and there is progress.
