Most wanted serial rape suspect to reappear in court─── BLAINE JONES 13:22 Tue, 18 Jan 2022
The case against an alleged serial rapist has been postponed to 24 January 2022 for a formal bail hearing.
Police spokesperson in the Free State, Peter Kareli, says the 34-year-old suspect is a “most wanted suspect” with multiple rape cases. Kareli says his court appearance on Monday 17 January 2022 followed after his arrest on 13 January. He has been on the wanted list for the past 13 years and was arrested after he was linked through multiple DNA results.
It is alleged that the suspect approached his victims by sneaking up from behind, grabbing them by the neck, and then threatening to stab them. He then dragged the victim to either an open space or an empty house where he will rape them and run away. All the rape cases occurred in the Bloemspruit area. The rape incidents happened between 2009 and 2013.
