Preliminary investigations have revealed that an act of arson might have taken place on Tuesday.

According to the municipal spokesperson, Tshidiso Maitse, the building has been cordoned off and is being treated as a crime scene, to allow the South African Police Services (SAPS) to conduct forensic investigations.

Maitse adds that fortunately there were no injuries or fatalities reported.

He, however, confirmed that the damage to the building and material lost is estimated to be well over a million rand.
