Basic Education weighs in on NW school saga─── LUCKY NKUYANE 10:12 Sat, 22 Jan 2022
The Department of Basic Education says it is going to intervene in an ongoing saga that has been troubling the North West Department of Education.
The basic education department's spokesperson, Elijah Mhlanga, spoke to OFM News on the sideline during the Free State's matric well-done function about the intended intervention.
He says the department will now beef up security to protect pupils at Tirelong Secondary School.

This intervention comes after OFM News reported that 162 school pupils from Tirelong Secondary School were allegedly taken by their parents in a questionable manner. The school principal registered a case of malicious damage to property.
"Even the school that was vandalised was on a farm where there are no immediate people around to look after it, but it was vandalised by people living in that environment in that community.
"So the department has now requested the police to investigate and assist the department because we did our best to out those learners from one place to another, but for some reason, people gained entry. So we are going to improve security now in that area," Mhlanga adds.
