Maape appeals for promotion of administrative efficiency, financial accountability─── 12:00 Sat, 22 Jan 2022
North West premier, Bushy Maape, is appealing to councillors in the province to promote administrative efficiency and financial accountability in municipalities.
The premier was speaking at the provincial two-day conference of the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) at the Mmabatho Convention Centre in Mahikeng.
The theme of the conference was "Re-imagining and refocusing of organised local government in the 5th term".
Maape says officials should adhere to the dictates of the Municipal Finance Management Act. He further emphasises that there is a need to move with speed in stabilising municipalities in the province, while the need to promote a culture of accountability is also imperative.
