A concerned parent, Zoleka Freddie, has been struggling to get placement for her child in a Free State school. Freddie alleges she went to the Provincial Department of Education to address the matter, however, she was sent to schools or advised to take her child to a TVET college. She further stated that, upon arrival at schools, she was told to go back to the department as they handle the placements.

“My child stayed with my mother in the Eastern Cape, unfortunately, my mother passed away,” explained Zoleka. Ever since the 17-year-old moved to Bloemfontein, Zoleka has been struggling to find a school. The 17-year-old is supposed to start with grade 10.

The department is yet to comment on the matter.
