FS municipality frustrated by #Centlec─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 05:26 Thu, 03 Feb 2022
Centlec's alleged inadequate infrastructure continues to hamper the Zastron-based Mohokare Local Municipality in the Free State.
The spokesperson of Mohokahare Local Municipality, Lehlonolo Mafatman, told OFM News that Zastron has been having continuous issues of power failure due to faulty cables - which Centlec failed to deal with.
He said this has angered residents and also hampered business entities of the small town in Free State. Mafatman also said that the only way to solve this issue is to make sure that they join hands with Centlec to find an amicable solution.
"As municipality we exactly want to know what might be the cause of such consistent faults of cables. Definitely we anticipate that it might be the aging infrastructure or maybe it might be the lack of human capital.
"Between the two cases we need to establish how are we going to solve the matter, working together, both municipality and Centlec, because we believe there is only one goal which is to provide quality services," he said.
Mafatman added that municipality has been engaging with residents, updating them on developments between municipality and Centlec officials. He said that this includes the meeting that they held on Wednesday. He also said that the meeting between municipality and residents also form part of the Mayor's 100 day plan, as they are on the final preparations of the plan.
