The discovery follows after Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko, together with other stakeholders - including the Emfuleni local municipality and the police - raided scrap yards in Evaton and parts of Sebokeng.

Mayoral spokesperson Lebo Mofokeng tells OFM News that there were no arrests made, while the police elaborated that only the municipality will comment regarding the said raid, and could not confirm any arrest.

More than 15 schools have been vandalised and had furniture stolen in the Vaal Triangle since the beginning of the lockdown period, with only two people arrested.

On today's raid, no information was given regarding the people who supply the scrap yards with the suspected stolen furniture.
