The District Police Commissioner in Lejweleputswa, in the north-western part of the Free State, visited the house in Thabong where two people were tragically killed in a house fire on Tuesday morning.
Major-General Lerato Molale visited the scene in Oppenheimer Park in Thabong. Police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, says according to a tenant and eyewitness, Joseph Molala, he woke up because of the smoke.
He then screamed for help and broke the burglar bars on the window to assist his fiancée to jump out through the window. Molala says he escaped through the same window. Two other people, however, couldn't escape the flames and burned to death.
