The Bloemfontein-based Mangaung Metro has issued a statement advising residents that the water utility Bloem Water is currently carrying out electrical maintenance.

The Metro Spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, in a statement says the water supply challenges over the past few days came as a result of the electrical maintenance work by Bloem Water, which affected pumping to Botshabelo and Thaba Nchu.

Khedama says the restoration of water supply has been completed in Botshabelo and technicians are working around the clock to ensure full restoration in Thaba Nchu.

"Residents will be regularly updated on developments. Mangaung Metro apologises for any inconvenience caused. Residents of Mangaung Metro, in particular, Thaba Nchu, are hereby notified that the city's water service provider, Bloem Water, is currently dispatching water tankers to affected areas," Khedama adds.
