BFN residents concerned with 'high accident zone'─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 11:49 Mon, 14 Feb 2022
Residents have raised concerns over recurring accidents at Raymond Mhlaba Street in Bloemfontein.
This after a truck lost its load when it overturned in on Monday. A concerned resident, Lawrence Masiya, tells OFM News Raymond Mhlaba Street is a high accident zone and residents are worried about their safety.
Masiya says some cars have ended up in their yards during accidents, sometimes destroying fences. He claims some accidents are caused by speeding cars who use the street as a racetrack.
“We are really concerned, we wish that the authorities can do something, maybe put speed bumps and come up with safety measures for us. There is a school close by, and there are times the scholars could also be hurt.
"We are really concerned and would love to have the municipality to come because they have been several occasions that we have raised our concerns but nobody seems to care,” he adds.
OFM News reported that the load from the truck fell into two residential yards and its understood that the truck driver is currently under medical observation. No casualty was reported following the accident, and there has been traffic delays as traffic officials have been diverting traffic.
