This after recent cable theft incidents left the larger part of Cassandra City without electricity. In a recent statement, the municipality states that it has joined hands with other stakeholders to address the issues of cable theft. This includes conducting patrols and other methods that will assist in getting suspects and illegal scrap metal dealers arrested.

OFM News previously reported that the municipal spokesperson, Sello Matsie, had stated that the thing that makes it difficult for municipalities to deal with criminals who are vandalising municipal infrastructure, is that it is the same offenders who have been arrested after being released from prison.
