NW ANC retains ward 2 in Tigane─── 14:21 Thu, 24 Feb 2022
The African National Congress (ANC) in the Matlosana sub-region managed to retain Ward 2 in Tigane near Hartbeesfontein, during Wednesday's by-elections.
Councillor Bonakele Humane resigned from the position in early December 2021.
These elections were contested by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and Patriotic Alliance (PA), and came just two months after the national local government elections.
The ANC secured a victory with more than 1000 votes, while the EFF came second with over 400 votes, and the PA took third place.
Abigail Mothupi of the ANC is the newly elected councillor. The election took place at Tigane Primary and Bakang voting stations.
