#FSSOPA: EFF concerned with alleged lack of consequence management─── LUCKY NKUYANE 08:38 Mon, 28 Feb 2022
The Free State EFF has raised a concern about what it terms a lack of consequence management in the province.
EFF provincial secretary, Bosanku Msimanga, tells OFM News that the inability of the Provincial Government to tackle and deal with corruption might have created a loophole for criminals to continue perpetuating cycles of corruption. He says for years, Premier Sisi Ntombela has been threatening to deal decisively with fraud and corruption but to date, there has been no decisive action taken against those implicated in corruption where millions of rands have been looted from state coffers. Msimanga adds that they are quite concerned that the purported stance on corruption by Ntombela and her government might just be an act.
Ntombela is expected to deliver her State of the Province Address (SOPA) on Monday at the Dr Petrus Molemela Sports Indoor Centre in Bloemfontein, where thousands of residents will be waiting to hear what plans she has for the province.
Msimanga says at the rate things have turned out to be in the province it seems as if even the next premier will fail to deal with the issue of corruption.
He adds that they also expect Ntombela to touch on the issues of youth unemployment and the creation of jobs.
The red berets have previously made several calls for Premier Ntombela to act against MECs such as the Social Development MEC, Mamiki Qabathe, following the Public Protector (PP) Busisiwe Mkhwebane's findings against her on the controversial Vrede Dairy Farm Project.
In 2021, Mandisa Makesini says the findings are related to the controversial R250 million Vrede Dairy Farm project. Qabathe is among a few officials that allegedly allowed the massive mismanagement of funds meant to develop upcoming farmers in Vrede.

In 2019, another Free State Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL), Roy Jankielsohn, told the State Capture Commission how Qabathe implemented some projects after taking over from the then MEC, Mosebenzi Zwane. Makesini says Ntombela should have dealt with Qabathe a long time ago, following Mkhwebane's report.
