This request was made by the MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) in the Free State, Mxolisi Dukwana, when he was speaking outside the Dr Petrus Molemela Indoor Sports Centre where Premier Sisi Ntombela delivered her State of the Province Address (Sopa).

He was addressing residents of Mangaung who staged a protest meant to disrupt Ntombela’s Sopa.

Dukwana said government officials don’t convey any arrogance towards residents, they always engage with them. He said the government has not lied to residents, however, they should work closely with community members to resolve issues.

“I don’t think the government has been lying to any person. I think the only thing that is lacking is that we are all speaking across one another. Up until we can draw up a plan that we can all work towards realising, nothing will happen. We will always have these things,” he said.

Dukwana says that they will be meeting with representatives of MCC on Tuesday morning to elaborate and come up with solutions on issues that are impacting Magaung residents negatively.
