Koffiefontein barred from watering gardens as interruptions loom | News Article

Residents of the small mining town of Koffiefontein in the Free State, have been warned against watering their gardens.

This, as possible supply interruptions loom.

In a notice signed off by the Manager of the Letsemeng Local Municipality, under which Koffiefontein falls, residents are informed that the ongoing nationwide load shedding imposed by Eskom is negatively impacting the Free State municipality’s water purification process.

Letsemeng Municipal Manager, Tshemedi Mkhwane, urges the community to use water sparingly and stresses the municipality will engage residents on the developments daily.

The other affected areas around Koffiefontein are Rooibult, Donkerhoek, Sonwabile and Ditlhake.

OFM News has reported numerous times on similar situations.

In October 2021 the Dihlabeng Local Municipality said it’s water system was under pressure owing to load shedding.

Meanwhile Eskom this week said stage 4 load shedding would be implemented until 5:00 on Friday.

It would then be lowered to stage 2 until Monday morning.

However there is a possibility that the situation could worsen to stage 6 load shedding.
