Sinkhole on R74 creating huge driving hazard─── TSHEHLA KOTELI 09:18 Fri, 18 Mar 2022
A sinkhole on the R74 on the Oliviershoek Pass is creating a driving hazard for motorists travelling between the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal.
Spokesperson for the Department of Police, Roads and Transport, Hillary Mophethe says they received an alert from the KwaZulu-Natal Roads Department concerning the particular sinkhole developing at the Little Switzerland Resort, approximately 5km from the Free State/KZN Border.
The area must be approached with extreme caution. Motorists driving light motor vehicles are advised to use the N5/N3 instead of the R74. The road is currently closed for all heavy vehicles exceeding 3 500kg.
