The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Njabulo Nzuza, is to conduct an inspection at the Maseru Bridge port of entry in the Free State.

This, after Minister Aaron Motswaledi announced extended operation hours at the busy port entry from 13 to 20 April 2022 to ease movement during the Easter holidays.

Nzuza will be conducting assessments as travellers are making their way back after the long-weekend. In a statement, Nzuza expressed appreciation for extended travelling hours, stating that the extended hours have minimised traffic congestion at a time when traffic has heightened.

Meanwhile, the Free State MEC for transport, William Bulwane, had announced during a media briefing that in October 2021, the United Nations proclaimed the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 with the target of a 50% reduction in road traffic fatalities and injuries by 2030.
