The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Elmarie Prinsloo, tells OFM News on the second day of the show that it's important to understand the impact the show has on the economy of the city and the province. She says the show, which is one of only two remaining shows in the country, can benefit small and big businesses.

"If you look at the hospitality industry and all of the visitors from outside South Africa that is visiting Bloemfontein and Mangaung over the two weeks of the show... that in itself is obviously a big injection towards the economy and the trade in Mangaung," she adds.

Prinsloo says the Bloem Show has the value of creating jobs for the locals, even if it's for temporary workers.

The Bloem Show has been met with great excitement after the empty showgrounds reminded us these past two years of the pandemic the world has been battling.

This show has successfully combined agricultural, entertainment and trade activities in one event for more than 130 years. It offers a variety of entertainment, for example, horseriding, ice-skating, and performances by well-known artists such as  DJ’s Press, Legoody, Finxo and Tobetsa, Early B, Snotkop, Lizz Meiring, Francois van Coke, Spoegwolf, Juanita and Franja du Plessis, Ruan Josh, and Lollos for the children.  

Adrenaline-packed performances of the FMX motorcycle daring shows, BMX and skateboarding demonstrations, a bodybuilding competition, oval track racing, and the first-ever polo event cater t another group. Some of the fun rides include the Carousel, the Big Wheel, and there is a shooting range, among many other types of entertainment.
