The MEC for Police, Roads and Transport in the Free State, William Bulwane, says that the extension of the renewal of licence cards, learners' licences and temporary driving licences will end tomorrow. This comes after the Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula, had extended the licence renewal grace period twice last month.

Mbalula had announced that the last day to renew all aforementioned particulars was on 15 April but later announced that this has now been extended to 5 May.

When applying for a driving license, motorists will be expected to produce the following information and documents:

• Original Identity Document (ID) as well as a copy thereof or your old driving license card or valid South African passport;
• Four black-and-white ID photographs;
• Proof of residence; and
• Licence renewal fee.
