Northern Cape learner represents SA on international stage─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 08:15 Mon, 09 May 2022
A Kimberley Girl's High School learner is set to represent the country on the international stage.
Chaylin Myburgh has been selected by the Eskom Expo to travel to Atlanta, Georgia, in the USA to represent the country at the Broadcom Masters (Maths, Applied science, Technology and Engineering Rising Stars).
According to a statement issued by Northern Cape government, this forms part of an international programme that runs alongside the 2022 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair .
The programme is focused on individual development and leadership.
The Provincial Government says that Chaylin's project aims to compare two solar water heaters mostly made from recycled materials - one made from an aluminium can and the other from steel - to determine which one can heat water faster.
In the extension of the project, a silicone bottle and glass jar were added to determine whether these materials would allow water to heat faster.
It was determined that aluminium cans allowed water to heat faster.
The Provincial Government says that Chaylin's project could potentially be used when designing new solar water heaters.
