The family of the late Tshepo Chabedi, who was stabbed to death by his fellow schoolmate, has expressed their gratitude to the school and the department for the support they have been getting.
An aunt of the deceased’s mother explains to OFM News that the school has been visiting the family consistently to ensure that they get all the support they need.
She further explains that the family is positive that they will be able to lay their son to rest this coming weekend, provided that the post-mortem is available soon. She says that almost everything has been secured for the funeral, the only outstanding process is for the post-mortem results to be released so that the family can start claiming from insurance and funeral cover. Furthermore, she explains that the family would appreciate counselling, especially the mother of the deceased.
The Free State Education spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, explains in an interview with OFM News that counselling and ample support have been given to both families. He also explains that the process of support and counselling given to the family will be a lengthy process that the department is willing to pursue alongside the family.
