The official was found guilty of contravening the Public Financial Management Act, dishonesty, and the dereliction of duty. 

This shocking information is contained in an answer on a written question tabled in parliament by DA MP, George Michalakis. He asked the department for details of a case in which its Chief Engineer in the Lejweleputswa District Office of the provincial department was charged and found guilty but slapped with a month unpaid leave and a final written warning. 

The department further acknowledged that it did not appeal the sanction.
