MAP mayor survives motion─── 09:00 Fri, 13 May 2022
The motion of no confidence against the executive mayor of Maluti-A-Phofung local municipality in the Free State, Gilbert Mokotso, has failed once again.
Mokotso was facing the motion for allegedly failing to deliver services to residents. The motion was brought by the AULA, which accuses him and his cabinet of inadequacy.
The AULA leader, Lebohang Rapuleng, says he's very dissatisfied with the council speaker, Paratlane Motloung, who defends the executive mayor "in any way".
He says over and above, that the council Speaker was not ruling the council meeting based on its rules. "As the councillors, we have to debate until we reach an agreement. Instead, the Speaker was deciding for us on what's to do", says Rapuleng.
He adds his party will seek legal advice on what's to do.
