Mamothame previously told OFM News that the Independent Police Investigative Directorate's (IPID) preliminary investigations revealed that the woman alleges that she was at her boyfriend's house in Lorwaneng village when an argument ensued between them and the police were called in.

He says that the woman was detained for alleged malicious damage to property after being interviewed by police. adding the victim had allegedly broken windows at her partner's place. He further says that the woman was handcuffed by police and on their way to the police station, they allegedly took a detour and told her that they were taking her home.

Mamothame says that the victim says that police stopped near an entertainment place and one of the police officers forcefully opened her mouth and made her swallow a "sweet drink" that made her dizzy.

He says the woman says one officer allegedly then raped her.

Mamothame says that the victim was taken to hospital by family members as she was dropped at her home after the alleged rape.
