Plans to rescue the troubled Mafube Local Municipality in the Free State are underway.
The Free State government has announced that it will be joining forces with businesses to bring stability to the collapsed municipality.
This, after Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela met with Mafube Business Forum and the Local Taxi Association on Monday. According to a statement issued, the purpose of the meeting was to find amicable solutions between the parties to ensure that the municipality meets its constitutional mandate which is the provision of services to people.
Ntombela said that the meeting between the parties came after a court ruling in favour of the Business Forum and ordering provincial government to provide financial support to Mafube municipality - amongst other things.
Ntombela stressed the importance of working with business forum without ending up in court to solve issues. She also stressed the importance of serving people of Mafube so that municipality can also prosper.
