SAPS investigating North West trio's death | News Article

Three burnt bodies have been retrieved by the police in North West, from a torched house.

Police Spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone confirms that the three bodies are of men, who were accused of dealing drugs in the Morokweng village outside Vryburg.

From the information the police received, it is suggested that some residents went to the house the trio had rented, and allegedly pelted the house with stones. The men were chased by the group of residents after they managed to escape.

Mokgwabone explains after they were captured by the mob, the three were locked inside their rented home, which was thereafter presumably set alight.

The police in the province are investigating a case of kidnapping, murder and arson.

The trio were all South African men who are originally from Carletonville.

At the moment the matter is still under investigation and no one has been arrested.

The Provincial Commissioner, Sello Kwena, stated "what happened is inhumane, totally unacceptable and must be condemned. No human-being should be subjected by another to any kind of brutal attack irrespective of the nature of the accusation.

"I would like to reiterate that taking the law into one's hands is unlawful and those who are perpetrating such acts, will be dealt with accordingly.”

Mokgwabone further explained the police are maintaining presence in the area to restore order and members of the community are urged to work with the police through Community Police Forum (CPF) to ensure that those who are behind these appalling acts are brought to book.
