DA wins ward from ANC─── 12:25 Thu, 02 Jun 2022
Today marks the first day of new leadership in Ward 4 of the Kareeberg Municipality in the Northern Cape.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) is celebrating its victory over the African National Congress (ANC), after it won the said ward in yesterday’s by-elections.
Northern Cape DA provincial leader, Harold McGluwa, tells OFM News they won the ward with a reasonable majority.
Furthermore he says he hopes that all political parties will be actively involved, as this is about the public’s interest and not about who holds more power.
McGluwa says there was no formal coalition under the ANC leadership in the municipality, and the DA looks forward to an active coalition with other opposition parties.
“We will then be working together with other opposition parties to ensure that we deliver service to the people in that community. Also to make sure that the town is upgraded, and the infrastructure is fixed, and address the problems that they are facing. They are currently facing a bridge that might collapse.”
He further says they will prioritize the water challenges and sewerage problems, and fix potholes.
