According to departmental spokesperson, Elias Malindi, the teacher was from Hoopstad in the Free State - just a few kilometres outside Bloemhof in the North West.

The deceased was shot and killed in the morning by two suspects whilst in her car outside the school gate at Rutanang Primary school in Geelhout Park.

The teacher is yet to be named, but her identity is expected to be revealed following the meeting with her family.

Malindi previously said the school was closed to allow for her send-off process to unfold smoothly.

The MEC for Education, Wendy Matsemela, previously expressed that she was gutted by the killing of the 45-year-old teacher and further announced that teachers and pupils affected by the heinous crime would receive counselling.

The police have since launched a manhunt for the two assailants who shot the teacher outside the gate of the school in cold blood.

Police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, previously said that according to information received, the deceased was shot at a close range by two suspects. The suspects are said to have fled the scene on foot and did not take anything from her car.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident two pupils - girls aged 9 and 10 respectively - passed away whilst 8 fellow pupils suffered injuries during a road accident between Hoopstad and Bloemhof on the R34.
