Some ANC members and branches are demanding the removal of the Interim Provincial Committee in the North West.
The group says it must be replaced by a team from the ANC national leadership to prepare for the upcoming provincial conference.
Protests flared up in Lichtenburg and Mahikeng on Thursday, with communities saying the issues of councillor disputes are yet to be resolved.
They're calling on the ANCs National leadership to intervene.
