Slain North West educator to be buried in KZN─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 08:43 Sat, 04 Jun 2022
The North West Department of Education has confirmed that the funeral for a teacher who was gunned down outside Rutanang Primary school in Rustenburg on Tuesday will take place in KZN in Sunday.
Grade R teacher, Penelope Nxumalo from Hoopstad in the Free State, was killed by two suspects whilst in her car outside the school in Geelhout Park.
According to Department spokesperson, Elias Malindi, Nxumalo's funeral service will take place at the Empangeni Civic Centre.
He says a memorial service will only be held at Rutanang Primary this coming Wednesday.
MEC for Education in the province, Wendy Matsemela, previously expressed that she was gutted by the killing of the 45 year old teacher, and further announced that learners and teachers affected by the heinous crime will receive counselling.

Matsemela said staff of Rutanang Primary will head to Empangeni in KZN today to bid their final farewell to their departed colleague.
