#GBV: NW MEC admonishes criminality against women─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 11:43 Mon, 06 Jun 2022
The North West Department of Education is positive that the killers of a 45-year old teacher from Rutanang Primary School will be brought top book.
Speaking at the funeral of Grade R teacher Penelope Nxumalo from Hoopstad in the Free State – who was killed by two suspects whilst sitting in her car outside the school in Geelhout Park - MEC Wendy Matsemela condemned acts of violence against women.
An emotional Matsemela said that she hopes the 72 hour activation plan launched by the police will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.

“We are not raising criminals in our schools, criminals are within communities. I want to say Gender Based Violence is quite rife; the scourge of this violence has ripped [from] us our joy, and we have just seen about the death of teacher Penny,” said Mmaphefo.
