Water and Sanitation calls for assistance from residents─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 12:38 Tue, 07 Jun 2022
The Department of Water and Sanitation has raised concerns regarding the high incidence of vandalism on infrastructure.
Departmental spokesperson, Sputnik Ratau, says that vandalism of infrastructure results in water shortages and prompts the department to place more emphasis on conserving water.
Ratau in a statement encouraged community members to actively engage in issues related to water and sanitation, and also requested the community’s assistance in dealing with infrastructure related crimes.
The Ministry of Water and Sanitation initiated the establishment of community forums across the country in 2015, as a way to garner support and raise awareness of water conservation.
He says so far the Free Sate has active community forums in five municipalities - these include Masilonyana, Letsemeng, Mantsopa, Setsoto and Mafube.
