North West serial rapist receives hefty sentence─── HEIDRÈ MALGAS 08:08 Sun, 19 Jun 2022
A 30-year-old serial rapist from the North West was handed two life sentences and an additional 28 years in jail.
According to Amanda Funani, police spokesperson, this comes after three separate incidents occurred where victims were raped and robbed of their cell phones and clothes.
His victims were all young women aged 14, 15 and 22.
Funani added that after the second victim was raped and robbed, he proceeded to torture his next victim just 30 minutes after.
“The police and security officers, with the assistance of members of the community, searched for the convict at Lenatong Section where he was found in possession of the victims’ clothes,” she said.
Furthermore, she added that he was apprehended and eventually identified by the 15-year-old victim he raped.
For two counts of rape, the accused was finally sentenced to two life sentences. He was also sentenced to 20 years in jail for another rape and four years in prison for each of two counts of robbery.
