As part of the effort to fix the scourge of recurring potholes in the North West province, the MEC for Public Works and Roads, Oageng Molapisi, is expected to launch a pothole patching drive in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District on Thursday.

In a statement, Molapisi says over 40 potholes will be patched, others resealed, while graveling and blading projects to improve the quality of the road infrastructure network, will be undertaken with this programme. 

He says this programme, which includes a partnership with municipalities, will systematically deal with potholes on all provincial roads, high-traffic roads, as well as streets across all municipalities.

North West residents have, from time to time, expressed their frustration with the state of roads towards municipalities that are struggling to fix their roads.

Molapisi adds that the efforts seek to underscore the government's approach to the District Development Model, where different spheres of government pull all resources to attend to a challenge in order to deliver services to the public.
