New health facilities to 'boost services'─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 07:23 Fri, 15 Jul 2022
Approximately seven healthcare facilities are currently being built in the Free State, while others are being renovated to ease pressure and improve delivery of healthcare services to residents within the province.
This is according to the Health Minister, Joe Phaahla, who replied to a question posed by EFF member of Parliament, Nokukhanya Chirwa, on the total number of hospitals and clinics that are currently being built by his department in each town and province in the country.

Phaahla says that these facilities are all funded from a Health Facility Revitalisation Grant. He stated that a hospital and clinic are currently being built in the Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality, one hospital and two clinics are being built in the Moqhaka Local Municipality, while two clinics are being built in the Dihlabeng Local Municipality, and one clinic in the Tswelopele Local Municipality.
Free State healthcare facilities have recently been in the spotlight following the surprise visits by the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) to the Pelonomi Hospital and MUCPP Clinic in Bloemfontein earlier this week, to check challenges faced by these facilities.
Meanwhile, Free State Health MEC Montseng Tsiu and HOD Godfrey Mahlatsi are expected to outline their plans to elevate the sector.
