Mangaung’s plans for clean audit to be unveiled─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 06:23 Tue, 19 Jul 2022
The troubled Bloemfontein-based Mangaung Metro Municipality is set to unveil its plans towards achieving a clean audit at the Bram Fischer Building on Tuesday.
This comes after the Auditor-General (AG) Tsakani Maluleke’s damning report that revealed the municipality had spent less than 2% of its infrastructure budget on repairs and maintenance.

The Metro’s municipal road and water network infrastructure had deteriorated because the municipality had failed to properly spend on its infrastructure.
OFM News previously reported the Water and Sanitation Minister, Senzo Mchunu, had said 46% of water in the Metro is lost due to water pipe leakages and added that these water pipes have been neglected for years and not maintained or repaired.
Joined by the mayoral committee and the Interim Executive Management Team, Mangaung Mayor Mxolisi Siyonzana is expected to outline the city’s plan towards achieving a clean audit.
He is also expected to highlight the progress that has been made by the metro towards addressing service delivery issues.

OFM News previously reported that the metro had forfeited over R400 million of the national conditional grant meant for much-needed service delivery.
This came after Maluleke said that the withdrawal of the conditional grant had further put a strain on the metro’s financial health and also had a negative impact on service delivery.
