#KestellFarmMurder: Free State premier to visit victims’ families | News Article

The Free State Provincial Government will visit the families of the Lismor Farm murder victims on Wednesday.

The spokesperson in the Office of the Premier, Palesa Chubisi, told OFM News that this is a courtesy visit combined with a prayer service by the provincial government. Premier Sisi Ntombela will be accompanied by the entire Executive Council.

Chubisi said the provincial leadership is going there for the first time. Ntombela has ordered psycho-social support. The visit is reportedly scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at the Lismor Farm where the incident happened.

OFM News previously reported Ntombela stated that she hopes the suspects will get the harshest punishment once they have been convicted.

The victims of this farm murder outside Kestell have in the meantime been identified. SAPS spokesperson Motantsi Makhele said two victims were family members of the farm owner. The 17-year-old male was identified as Rudi Smith, the farm owner’s stepson, and the owner’s wife was identified as the 55-year-old Binto Smith.

The other five victims were female workers at the farm. They have been identified as Nokufa Portia Monareng (30), Lerato Julia Moloi (33), Mothoduwa Paulina Moloi (36), Nomasontsha Topsy Maduna (43), and Nomasonto Christina Zulu (56).

Meanwhile the farm owner, Alheit Smith, reportedly explained his loss by stating that he now has nobody, as his family was killed on the farm.

The suspects are expected to appear in court on Wednesday.

OFM News previously reported that the two suspects - Kamohelo Motankisi and Lerato Selepe - appeared in the Kestell Magistrate's Court on Monday, facing 12 counts which include 7 counts of murder, 2 counts of rape, 1 count of robbery with aggravating circumstances, 1 count of housebreaking with the intention to steal (theft), and 1 count of the illegal possession of a firearm.”
