Brits to play in first-ever women’s commonwealth tournament─── HEIDRÈ MALGAS 08:10 Sat, 30 Jul 2022

It is the very first Commonwealth Games for women’s cricket this year, which will be held in Birmingham, England.
Tazmin Brits from the North West has been fortunate enough to receive the call to play in the Commonwealth Games.
According to Brits, the feeling is unreal. “I wasn’t supposed to be here and wasn’t selected to play in the games, but to fly down and replace someone, is something I never thought would happen. I am very blessed to have this experience,” Brits said.
She added that she would not mind scoring 50 runs like she did with England in the last T20, and that if she does get to play, she would help the team and show them that they did not make a mistake to choose her.
“Everyone wishes and hopes to win, that is definitely at the top. I definitely do hope that we can make history, as we are the underdogs,” she said.
Brits said that women’s cricket being in the Commonwealth Games proves that cricket is developing, and that women are sticking up with the men there.
“I do hope we [win] gold to be able to prepare for the World Cup and winning the World Cup,” she added.
