The national chairperson of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has slammed the Mangaung Metro Municipality for the continued lack of service delivery.

Speaking before the commencement of the party's 9th anniversary celebrations at the Dr Petrus Molemela stadium in Bloemfontein yesterday, Veronica Mento applauded EFF councillors for a sterling job in exposing and trying to deal with the municipality with regards to service delivery issues.

She said that the party's councillors enforced the metro's ANC councillors to release the allocated budget to clean townships and sewage spillages, and to also ensure that there is proper sanitation around Mangaung.

Mento adds that EFF councillors have made a difference in the troubled metro as the government was forced to get out of its comfort zone, following a sewerage inspection by the commander-in-chief and the party's president, Julius Malema, earlier this year.

"Right around here in Mangaung, when we were addressing community meetings, there are piles of trash everywhere. This used to be the 'City of Roses', it's a city of trash right now.

"There are dumping sites everywhere and the services that are supposed to come to the people, are not coming to the people," she said.

OFM reported earlier that EFF supporters showed up in numbers at the Dr Petrus Molemela stadium yesterday to celebrate the party's 9th anniversary. They were addressed by party officials, including Malema, and were joined by representatives of opposition parties.
