The shootout reportedly took place at a gambling territory known as Mochina in the Nyakallong township, where gambling rivals were allegedly firing shots in a public space.

The incident reportedly took place between two groups of foreign nationals. SAPS spokesperson Stephen Thakeng told OFM News that the two suspects are from Welkom, and were arrested for slashing tyres and stoning vehicles of the other two rivals.

“On the arrival of the police, it was [rivals] from Stilfontein and Welkom fighting over a gambling territory called 'Mochina'. Vehicles were shot at but nobody got injured. The suspects were arrested and are facing attempted murder, reckless and negligent driving, firing a shot in a municipal area, and malicious damage to property. Investigations continue. The suspects will soon appear in the Odendaalsrus Magistrate's Court."
