Protest action turned violent through the night on the N1 at Winburg and surrounds.
A resident tells OFM News the protest actions spilled into town, with the sounds of gunshots being heard and some shops in the area are also allegedly being vandalised.
Goldfields Crime and Traffic reports the N1 has been barricaded with stones and that a truck has been torched. In Masakeng in Winburg, another truck has been stoned.
OFM News is awaiting further information from the authorities, but motorists are advised to avoid the area and consider other routes when travelling in the area.
